I do the same thing as you have been doing, @Diane Lane . I have an app for Photolab on my iPad, and it will put frames, borders, and all sorts of other things on your pictures; but at the same time, it reduces the size enough that they will easily load on this forum. I usually use the border ones because they do not add anything to the photo; but sometimes I like to add frames or backgrounds, and Photolab does all of that, too.
Photos are a part of the enjoyment of a forum so please don't stop posting photos. If they could be cut back to an 800-pixel width, they would display well in forum threads and take up less space than larger ones. The forum will automatically reduce the size that it displays, for the larger ones, making them larger when someone clicks on them, but the full size of the image is accounted for in bandwidth.
Yvonne. There is several photo labs in the App Store. Which one do you use. I need to shrink some of my pics, too.
Yes I reduce all mine to around 800 pixels often a whole folder full on a PC using free software from FastStone.
The app that I use is actually called "Photo Lab Pro", @Dave Sun . I think that you should already have the app, because we talked about it before and I think that you posted some pictures on Facebook that had one of the special frames on it. There is a free version of the app; but I liked it so well that I spent $3-4 and got the Pro version, and it does more things. The icon for the app looks like a little blue chemistry beaker with a smiley-face and the background has bubbles on it. You can add borders, backgrounds, make different face montages, and stuff like that. When you do any of these applications, it resizes the picture smaller. I usually just use one of the plain borders most of the time. You will notice that Ina does that, too.
@Ken Anderson @Admin I have been having difficulty uploading files to posts here on the site. I don't know if it's a problem with my new (to me, refurbished) computer, if it's some incompatibility, or perhaps is related to the recent attacks. When I click to upload a file, nothing happens. In the past, I was able to upload pictures, so this is a fairly new development, over the past month or so.
I'm having problems too, so I do it from my phone. My problem started when I did the update. I get a message and ken told me what it was but I forget.
I'm also having trouble with the forum today (and had a little problem yesterday, as well), so maybe it's related to the ongoing issues. I'm having another sort of glitch with my computer, so it could be that. Hopefully it will resolve itself. I really enjoy posting pictures here on the forum.
I think it's probably either minor attacks following the large one on Friday, or maybe the sites/hosts are making changes in an attempt to make it more difficult for the hackers, and it's causing some issues down the line. Just now, the connection issues I was having were just like those from Friday (and around Friday), so I don't think those are directly related to the picture/file posting issue. Then again, I'm far from a tech expert, so I could be wrong .
This was the only site giving me problems on Sunday....and it's usually my only problem. I've always been able to get on twitter, etc. It could be that I'm here more and notice, i'm not on twitter that much at all.
There is nothing that has changed here. The site has been down now and then but that is the result of something outside of the forum itself. I have had trouble connecting to Netflix over the past week or so, and Facebook comes and goes. As far as uploading photos, I haven't changed any settings or anything here that should present a problem with that. I am going to try to upload a photo to the Make Me Laugh thread in a moment, so I'll see if I have any trouble. During a DDOS attack, the hosting company sometimes moves the site from one server to another, so there might be a brief period while that's going on when things will be quirky but they usually notify me when they do that. Maybe they have. I haven't checked my email yet today.
It's probably not your computer, but I don't think it's connected to the forum per se either. I think it has to do with the overall problem we're having with the Internet right now. It seems more noticeable here because some of us spend more time here than on some other sites, so we're more likely to come across it here but the two other sites that I also spend a lot of time on (Facebook and Netflix) have been giving me problems over the past week or so too.
This is probably the only place I upload a file. I did just post a pic on Facebook. It was someone's bday and that's the only time I post a pic on FB, but I haven't had any problems. I seem to have problems after my update with pics that I've cropped.
