Some retail help.. I'm thinking of purchasing an item at a promotional price.. After trial size is done..next one is automatically charged @ quite a substantial increase. It's stated...can cancel before next shipment . But..'heard'.. difficult to do.. Don't want to give credit card.. Maybe debit is better? Has anyone ever had something like this. Solution..please
They will use either one and take it out of your bank, and it is a hassle either way to stop it. If you absolutely HAVE to have this product , maybe get one of the gift credit cards and use that. Once you have used it the first time, there will not be any more money in there for them to keep taking out payments.
I was going to suggest a debit card tied to an account with little money in it, but your suggestion @Yvonne Smith is much simpler.
If you get a gift card so the thing does not renew, still go through the cancellation process so they cannot come back at you for the money. Personally, I don't do that kind of stuff.
What about a debit card..starting with only the amount.. And if something else comes up..add to it. I'm not that financially astute.. But..I don't want to 'get taken'
When I hear "Debit Card," I hear a card that is tied to my checking account. So when you say "Add to it," I think that you & I are not talking about the same thing. If you have heard that it is Hell to cancel subsequent orders, you might want to look elsewhere for that product.
You can get a Green Dot card at a pharmacy or grocery store and put just the amount of money you need on it. There are probably other companies that have something similar. They are like gift cards but can be used as debit cards online or at a retail store.
If you use a debit card, make sure you don't have any "overdraft protection" on it that will draw from other accounts.
When I look at 'can cancel any time', the first thing I do before ordering is find out how. Phone number? email? Writing to corporate?...
