No, I didn't get the flu shot this year, and guess what I got sick. However, I don't regret that decision not to do so. First of all I was told by my doctor that it wouldn't be worth it because this years supply wasn't as effective and I wasn't in a high risk group. Second I wasn't sick that long and there is no guarantee i wouldn't have gotten sick anyway even with the shot. So, I don't regret that decision.

    1. I remember getting my first flu shot back in the 70's. I got so sick the week after. I never took a flu shot ever again! I don't know why, but the flu shot doesn't work for me. My Mom gets a flu shot every year and she's rarely sick. I got the MMR, tetanus every 10 yrs. though and don't have problems with it. When I get old enough I'll get the shingles immunization too. But the flu shot just doesn't work for me.

I usually get a flu shot. Last year it was extremely cold and or snowy all winter. I stayed in and away from people as best I could. I made it through the winter without even catching a cold. I didn't mind a bit isolating myself away from others. Stay out of doctors offices as much as possible. Those places are germ factories.

We have no flu shots here as far as I know. I'm past 50 and I don't care anymore with that immunity shot because my body can withstand the flu. Besides, flu is not that prevalent anymore unlike during my younger years when every year flu would be causing absences in school particularly during the rainy season.

Maybe we have a different culture when it comes to being sick or perhaps the flu there is different from the flu here. What's getting worse here is the common cold that it takes more than a week to go away. In the olden days, a common cold would go after a day of rest. But now it lingers and the body becomes weaker as days pass because of the clogged nose (breathing difficulty).

I won't get it. I may regret it, since my wife and I both got the flu last year and had a miserable time of it, but I think I'll take my chances. Vaccines scare me more than the diseases do.

I'm going to pass on it this year and see what happens. If I die, I'll let you know.

The idea of vaccination would be alright but I don't need all the other toxins that are in the vaccines. There is no long term studies that show that vaccine is safe. The drug company gets of free pass after they call it a vaccine and if it is bad and kills people the government has to pay and not the people who made the vaccine so they could care less what they put into it. The government has already paid out billions to people that have proved damage from vaccines. Never again

I didn't get the shot in Fall of 2009 and got a bad cold, turned into flu, with a spot of phenomena on one lung, the Thursday before New Year's Eve weekend. I was coughing so bad and told my wife that I really thought I was going to die. At the time, I had health insurance with a Temp Service my wife was working for, but didn't even think about getting the shot. The following year, I went back to using my VA Medical. Got the shot from the VA each year, until last year when I went on Medicare. After I went on Medicare, I got both the regular and the Senior Double Dose last year. This year I just plan on getting the Senior Double Dose one next week. It's fully paid for by Medicare.

Wife got hers at her job a couple of weeks ago.

My last VA doctor did tell me that getting this shot does not guarantee that a person won't get the flu, but it sure is good maintenance against it. After what I went thru in 2009, not having the shot, I will continue getting the shot each year.

For us, we'd rather be "safe than sorry".

My sinuses usually open right up if I eat raw onions or some spicy foods. Might be worth a try.

Ive only gotten the flu shot once and that was a few years ago when I volunteered at the hospital. I think it was required.

I never get sick with the flu or even colds...knock on wood!

I had the flu shot a couple of times when I passed 60, but each time I seemed to have a lot of colds during the following winter, though my daughter who is a nurse said that couldn't be the cause, I still feel it compromised my immune system in some way. I haven't had a shot since then which is over 10 years ago, and I have never had colds or anything else for that matter since.

Thanks to vaccines we no longer have to worry about smallpox and polio, etc. I can't understand all the anti-vaccine hype that's going around. Some have said the best way to avoid the flu is to build up your immune system. News flash!!! That's what vaccines do. They allow your body to recognize the strains of flu viruses and build up antibodies to those viruses.

I know my post won't change any minds but at least I've had my little rant.:p

Im not against shots at all, have even paid $200 for a shingles shot a couple years ago. Its just that I have to pick and choose what medical procedure I can spend my money on and Im hoping that I dont get the flu since I havent gotten it yet!

Once I get my medicare nightmare straightened out....I hope it will be covered and I'll probably get one.

It was free when I volunteered at the hospital.

Shots never seem to make me sick or bother me whatsoever..so far.

Had to get a tetanus shot a few months ago ($75) because my dogs teeth broke my skin while I was getting a toy out of his mouth....the nurse said it will hurt.....I didnt feel a thing!
