I saw this electric vacuum sealer kit on the Vine offerings (free for a review), so I ordered it. It has the hose/connection compatible with my FoodSaver, too. When I made the Bisquick recipe yesterday I was thinking that sealing it in a mason jar would be a good way to store it.

I've used these FoodSaver accessories for years:

$15 on Amazon. That's 40% off. I just added a set to my Wish List since they're marked down. I seal things in Mason jars like leftover canned olives, jarred jalapeños, specialty hot peppers, etc.

This set has one for pint jars and one for quart jars.

My FoodSaver came with that accessory but I must have thrown it out in one of my "kitchen purges." I never used it but recently I'm using mason jars a lot more than I used to. Not sure how useful I will find this new gadget but it's free so there's that. :D

Free is good. I used mine quite often. I have an assortment of vacuum canisters, but sometimes class jars are so much better. I picked up a couple of sets that came with other accessories and gave one set away. As I said, at that price I'll pick up a backup set.

@John Brunner I’ve looked at them numerous times but I’m never sure what sort of machine is needed to operate them apart from the hand operated pump you can buy or that comes with the shown kit ….. i buy nuts for snacks and try to just get enough almonds / and walnuts to fit in the large jars that are used exclusively for the snacks but I always seen to have a handful and a half left over …so I put them in the freezer but they get a freezer taste about them so only good for baking

Kate: They work with this type of vacuum seal machine machine.

The machine needs to have an Accessory Hose Port on it like you see on the right-hand side of the machine in that picture. I can help you look for one (or evaluate one you're interested in) if you like. FoodSaver® machines have a couple of different port styles on it that take different hose connectors.

If you get one of these, you could then also put the nuts in a vacuum bag, suck out the air, seal it, and then freeze it. You won't get freezer burn then.

Regardless, I would not buy an "accessory kit" until I had the machine I wanted it to fit. There are many good brands of vacuum sealer machines that are not "FoodSaver" brand.

Yeh, I've looked at some of those. I forget why I've not tried a different brand. I think Walmart carries some in their stores.

I looked at amazon “ prime “ sale day I’m not a prime member so regardless it would have cost me $10 extra to buy to join prime to get this model for $94

    I paid $74 . 58 ….on eBay same thing ( altho it shows ) $91 .99 the discount was taken off at checkout )

Did I say thank you to @Beth Gallagher and @John Brunner you are always both there to assist me ( or others ) when they need a bit of confidence in buying items to make out lives easier
Yes I’ve been preserving successfully for many years but when I step outside of the norm so to speak I’m not sure without a little help , like anything new …..a little confidence in self and a little hand up helps heaps …
