I worked for a government contractor that ran the Dept of Treasury's Fixed Asset Forfeiture program (yeh, that perversion of our 4th Amendment rights.) The Fed would seize lots of stuff that was [allegedly] used to transport drugs, was [allegedly] purchased with drug money, or was seized because of [alleged] unpaid back taxes. Then they would hand the stuff over to us to care for and maintain until the case was adjudicated. (You wouldn't believe the number of vehicles we had at our southern border that were [allegedly] running drugs into the states.) We were sometimes put in control of legit businesses, which we would keep running. We ran The Mustang Ranch after it was seized for tax issues, if anyone recalls that story (it was on 60 Minutes.) Occasionally the houses and real estate of drug lords would get seized, and they would have large cats roaming the property. It was a real problem, not only because of the obvious danger, but because once captured, there was no place to take them. We would have to beg zoos for help because they did not have a need for the critters...especially the white tigers & lions these guys had a penchant for. Out of the wild, those cats can come from a small breeding gene pool, which can bring its attendant issues.
