The Second Battle of Bull Run (August 28-30, 1862) From all the conflicting information, the only thing that I feel safe in repeating is ( ): "The Second Battle of Manassas (Bull Run) was larger in scale and greatly exceeded the number of casualties than the First Battle of Manassas, which was fought on the same ground in July 1861. The Confederates won both battles" .(there are some who even disagree about that. ) "Stonewall" Jackson's wing of the Confederate army struck the Orange & Alexandria Railroad at Bristoe Station on August 26th (a skirmish that led up to the main battle).
