    @Bobby Cole That was a joke started by a friend when he bought a flux core wire feed welder for welding aluminum sheets to make a large capacitor for a magnetic loop. He didn't want to invest in a MIG wire welder that uses gas so nonferrous materials can be joined. It didn't work at all of course and since under power the large plate capacitor has magnetic energy moving in it that some refer to as "flux" he joked about buying a flux welder to weld his flux capacitor.

    Harbor Freight seems to be the only place I have seen them called Flux Welders. Most other companies call them "Flux Cored Wire" welders.
