Since I'm usually up until the wee hours (at least 2 a.m.), most of the noise has settled down by then. I'd probably have a harder time sleeping with stuffing in my ears than hearing the noise.
I was in Paris, Texas once and saw a leaning windmill. There is a Moscow in Idaho. Be that as it may, any difficulty sleeping I may have in the next two nights, is minor when I think of what all those explosions represent. We would have never known the freedom that is now being taken away without the rockets and bombs that defeated the enemy, howbeit at the high loss of life and limb. The 4th reminds me that freedom isn't free.
Actually, we were woke up this morning at 12:04AM to a house close to the apt. complex, who fired off four firecrackers. Idiots, just plain idiots!! It was done on purpose at that time. So, what are we going to do for 4th of July tonight? Watch the last performance of the Cody Stampede Rodeo on the Cowboy Channel and then watch some fireworks displays from Macy's and the U.S. Capitol on tv. Definitely not going anywhere to watch.
I spent the morning with my second-to-the-oldest brother, whose house I am staying at. In the afternoon, I went to a picnic in Menominee with the brother closest in age to me (three years older), where I met several members of his family whom I hadn't met before, or who I hadn't seen since they were children. From there, I stopped by my oldest brother's house, which was on the way home. Tomorrow is the funeral and, so far, I don't have anything planned after the funeral. The following day - the last day I'll be here - I am going to drive to Daggett, Michigan to see my brother's house (the one who is closest in age to me). I wish I had brought a Trump shirt because he's a rabid liberal.
Ever since my kids left for college, I can and do pretty much sleep through anything. But only a few hours at a time, any time--so burglers beware! burgers too.
At about 9PM Sunday night, the guy in the adjoining property was shooting off some nice fireworks that are not "approved" in this state. I was standing on my front porch watching what I could through the trees. There was a lull in the action, and from the treeline by my house I heard this loud "HOOOOOOT!" of a horned owl. Poor bugger.
I did not see one human being today. But I did talk to an old buddy who left here in 2005 and moved to N. Carolina.
We watched some of the fireworks that were on tv, which were pretty cool looking, but most of the singers we didn't know. Not into Pit Bull, Machine Gun Kelly, Def Leppard. Liked Journey much better when Steve Perry was lead singer. Then, decided to walk down the street a few blocks to see any fireworks, especially ones at local lake, but lake ones were too far away. Came home and went to bed. Unfortunately, both fireworks and gunshots were going off until about 11:30. Idiots shooting guns and illegal arial fireworks.
There are those that are more than willing to pay for the cost of almost anything, no matter what that cost is. A lot of people in America have money, and many, plenty of it.
