Silly me just reread this thread and saw that I posted that the Virginia Dept of Critters lifted the feeder ban last August. I've not put out feeders in the last few years, so I guess this didn't stick.

The odd thing is the birds wearing those tiny little masks.

I found this, dated April 29,2022:

Wild Bird Diseases Update: Feeding Restrictions Are Lifted - Birds and Blooms

"...cases of this mystery bird disease are no longer being reported. All 11 states that had issued do-not-feed recommendations have now lifted their restrictions, or they were allowed to expire."

    Thanks, Nancy.

How odd that things like that "just disappear." I wonder if winter's cold weather zapped the virus. The southern-most 2 states that had restrictions were Kentucky and Tennessee.

Horray ! I thought I was going to have to eat all my birdseed myself.

This morning. The first brown-headed cowbird to show up here, as far as I know. I've never seen one before. Kinda hope it moves on.

Also the dark-eyed junco is back. I thought it would migrate north. If it nests in the ground, it won't last long here.

We have a hummingbird bush next to the back fence and it is swarming with the little fellows today. Of course they are fighting over every bloom; there must be at least 6 of them dive-bombing each other.

I was surprised to see my beauties going to my morning glories, of which I have quite a few. I'm forgetful about keeping my two feeders filled with sugar water and I'm glad they're finding another reason to hang around.
I heard one humming a song the other day. It was "I'll Fly Away".
