http://www.helpforibs.com/ @Ina I. Wonder Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this thread. The past few weeks have been filled with either Doctor appointments or tests for either my Honey or me, in between trying to help my daughter with the youngest grandkids. I used to have so many books on IBS but when we moved back to Louisiana from Florida...I downsized as much as possible and those books were donated to the Library before we made our move. I have been trying to think of a website that was of some help to me and I finally remembered the young woman's name was Heather...and typing in her name and IBS brought me straight to a page with her website. This young woman has had this health problem too since she was very young. And she has lots to things you can try or not try to see if it helps you. There is also an IBS Forum on her site which I found helpful during the time I was trying to get some control over my IBS. I did try a couple of her products, one which I found was very helpful to me at the time. There is no simple fix but there is hope Ina and since Crohn's has alot of the same symtoms...getting those symtoms tamed will help both these health problems. Check out her website, forum, products, etc. There is alot of good knowledge there for you.
Thank you both @Babs Hunt and @Yvonne Smith. I have been using nongluten floor for over a year now, and it didn't take long for me to get use to cooking with it. So far I haven't come across any problems using it. I make biscuits at least three or four times a week, and we use them in place of store bought bread. Bobert is doing better without the gluten as well. The wheat problem for those with IBS was explained to me some time back, so that is when I started to use Domata flour. I'm pretty much reading articles and watching videos concerning IBS and Crohn's until all the facts start to swim around in my head. Then I will take a break and read a good mystery to clear the brain fog that comes with so many facts. So I'll be checking out your suggested website Babs. I've had three steroid shots so far, and they must be working because I'm not in as much pain after I eat, but the weight gain is a bit uncomfortable. I'll just have to loose the extra pounds after the shots are over I guess, which shouldn't be too hard after I can come out of my summer hibernation in about six more weeks.
I just bought the ebook about fiber, and gut bacteria, called Fiber Fueled by Dr. Bruce Bulsiewicz, and it explains completely about the different gut bacteria, and how they can help or hinder our health, cause diseases like Crohn’s, IBS, and even auto-immune diseases and depression. It is usually $27, but is on sale right now for only $1.99 if anyone is interested in learning more about the benefits of fiber on our body and our health. https://smile.amazon.com/Fiber-Fueled-Plant-Based-Optimizing-Microbiome-ebook
