Thanks to the Trump economy, my stock dividends have gone up 5 cents from the last quarter. I'm rich!
When I was working and investing on a regular basis pre-retirement the DOW was a topic of daily discussion and decision making. Now--I could care less about the DOW and whether it is up, down or sideways. My life at this point will be unaffected by DOW performance.
I check the market once a week or so; I'm not obsessed with ups and downs. I'm waiting on some recovery so I can dump some investments and try new ones, though.
I don't follow it on a daily basis. What's the point? If you're trading with 401(k) investments or mutual funds, you can't time your sale anyway or set a sell price. It's all at Market Close.
I look at the DOW, these days, just to see what it's doing, no more, no less. Got out of the market, years ago.
