A few years ago, when my old computer went "on the fritz", and my daughter left me her iPad while she took my computer home to see if she could fix it, I was frustrated most of the time. It seems like I was always touching the wrong thing, or at least at the wrong time. I would lose the page that I was on, and could not figure out how to get it back again. Then, I would google it all over again and try desperately not to lose it this time. Bit by bit, I got better at using it, and then started appreciating how easy it was to do things with the iPad. I loved the touchscreen, and not needing any kind of a mouse, I could stretch the screen so I could read things that were in small print, or see a picture close-up. It was hard getting used to typing with the virtual keyboard, and much slower, since I was doing it with two fingers. But, I discovered that I could relax in my recliner with the iPad resting on a pillow on my lap, and browse the Internet in more comfort than ever before. Like you mentioned, it can go just about anywhere. Bobby has Bluetooth speakers and he takes his iPad out to the shop with him, turns on music, and happily works out in the shop. One thing I recommend, if you get another tablet,@Linda Binning , is to get an external keyboard. That makes the tablet almost like having a small, very portable laptop, and SO much easier to type on . If you do not do a lot of writing, the virtual keyboard is okay; but when you spend time on forums, then the external keyboard is a lifesaver !
On the weekend, while I'm on this thing, my wife is either watching tv, on the laptop or playing one of her iPhone games. I will sometimes tell her about a Thread in this forum or another that I'm part of. During the weekdays, I can sometimes spend too much time looking/replying on both of the forums and don't get done what I really need to do on the computer. Luckily, I can break myself about from this "high-tech monster" and get what I need to get done in our apartment.........like, laundry, vacuuming and stuff like that.
"What Does Your Significant Other Do While You're Playing On The Forum?" Originally, I discovered forums long before she expressed any interest at all, condemning them as terrific wastes of time. So, in answer to the title, she sulked. Now, having discovered a local "buzz" forum, spinoff of Facebook, the computer is turned on (by her) first thing before coffee is even started..... Frank
My wife is on Facebook. She knows that I have this forum but hasn't shown much in the way of interest in it. I even tried to entice her here by telling her that I talk bad about her all the time, but to no avail. We both work from home but we have different home offices, mostly because we have different tastes in television. She usually has news or talk shows on, and I normally watch movies because the news just makes me angry, and I don't like to be angry all the time.
Anger ups the B.P. and generally opens up the door to "invasive organisms", both of the physiological type, and human.
