I have read about that one, from the Stephen King book, and I might try watching it. I think we cancelled Netflix because Bobby was not watching it anymore. But it might be on Amazon Prime Videos, too.
I really don't matter in this one, as I seldom go to the movies and don't enjoy it much when I do. Although I do watch a few streaming on Amazon, I watch movies because other people want to watch them and I want to be with those people. I tend to over analyze them and find all the things wrong. I won't write what I thought of Titanic as I don't wish to offend others.
Don, I could be wrong, but I thought we were supposed to post a movie we did NOT see, in spite of it getting awards, so I chose Titanic. You won't offend me. lol
You are right ! I was not paying close enough attention, I guess. I have no idea which ones I might have avoided; but most likely ALL of them, at least recent ones, because I have watched very few of the recent movies, and have no idea which won awards in any case.
Just to see how many 'Best Picture' winners I have seen starting from last year: 2010 - The King's Speech 2003 - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 2000 - Gladiator 1997 - Titanic 1994 - Forrest Gump 1993 - Schindler's List 1991 - The Silence of the Lambs 1984 - Amadeus 1978 - The Deer Hunter Not a good average for 40 years But...thanks to TCM and DVD's, I have seen every Best Picture winner from 1976 to 1927.
Let this be my day of confessions. I didn't watch any of those except The Silence of the Lambs, Gladiator, and Amadeus but all of these only once. Am I a philistine? That's quite possible.
The Passion [of Christ]. I was told it was an excellent movie but to tell the very best of truths, I have spent thousands of hours with Jesus life, crucifixion and resurrection on my mind and there is no movie, in my opinion, which can be more vividly portrayed better than in my own imagination. What I envision in regard to the crucifixion is horrifying enough without any additional help from Hollywood.
Not sure how "notable," but I didn't care to watch any of the "Shades of Grey" movies and I didn't read the pornographic books, either. Not my cuppa, you might say. I read 11/22/63 and it was an excellent book, though Stephen King is now on my enemies list thanks to his political leaning. Yet another celeb who believes his opinions are relevant.
"The Green Door", though we saw the preview, which contained some unimaginable feats...... A hit song preceded the movie: "Green Door" by Jim Lowe
