Something else that would go a way to make my life a little easier would be a gardener. We have quite a large garden, it's kept well by us but because both of us work long hours, it's difficult to find the time to keep it as pretty as I'd like it to be, and usually we'll find on our occasional days off, the weather is bad and we can't get out there anyway! . The lawns are always neatly mowed always(although both of us have back problems) and the shrubs and trees are kept trimmed as much as possible and looking nice..and every spring I plant flowers, but I don't have the time to weed and care for them as I'd like, so ultimately some years we have no flowers at all...it would be nice to have someone to come and just tend to the gardens so they look pretty all year around. However, in this area, gardeners are quite expensive..so until we physically can't do it ourselves we soldier on..but it would be nice to not have to..
This would make life easier around here, too... not only for gardening (although I'd love to actually have a veggie garden!) but basically for the mowing in summer and snow removal in winter. There's so much snow and ice that it gets difficult to keep after sometimes. Bad part is that services who do that type of work are rather expensive, at least here in my town.
I have a small yard, @Holly Saunders but I have lawncare once a week even in the winter because our grass grows even then. Everybody in Fresno seems to have lawncare, it's cheap and it's just too hot to be outside in the summer. I only pay $105 a month and they cut my grass, trim all my bushes and I have quite a few, do the edging, clean up fallen leaves, etc. they are all Mexican workers and you see them in the neighborhoods every day of the week with their pick up trucks and trailers. I've had mine for years and he's even fixed my sprinkler system a few times for just the cost of the part, they are also very trustworthy. He has the key to my gate and when I'm away I will tape his check to my patio chair. Not once has anything happened to my house with him having access and knowing I'm not home. House cleaners are expensive though. My daughter has one come once a week to clean her house.
In Spain I have a second home on a private gated community, we pay as a community, 25,000 euros to our gardeners who also maintain the pool because like Fresno it's hot almost year around and where our house is in the south of Spain it's very arid apart from the Golf courses of course..., but we have a beautiful garden area thanks to the gardeners but even there where it's much cheaper than here, it's still very expensive comparatively for Spain ...here where I live in the south of England gardeners look for about £25-£30 per hour!
Naaaaa....thanks terry, but if a Guy is gonna take his shirt off in front of me let him look like he's old enough to do it without his mamas' permission....LOL>..
Yikes! It could be because we have cheap labor with the Mexicans here. I'm pretty sure they are legal because they have quite a set up with their trucks and tools, plus I pay by check.
Awww bless Charlie Dimmock, such a nice lady too...we don't see enough of her on TV these days anymore!!
@Holly Saunders , I don't know who she is but I'm seeing a lot of her in that blue top. Is she a TV personality that does a garden show?
Thanks, @Holly Saunders. Hopefully someday it will be easier. There are larger things, but I didn't want to get greedy . Thankfully, I don't have to worry about snow here, and that's definitely a blessing, although I do like the cooler weather. There seems to be a common thread here with household and gardening chores being high on the list .
Yes she presented several shows on the BBC and was especially appealing to men because she didn't usually wear a bra
