And, my wife, Nancy, wearing her Ariat (boot company) baseball cap. And, she says, "last time I paint my nails pink" and I agreed.
Big question: Are restaurants getting all of the good cuts of meat? We've bought ground beef and loin steak and all of it seemed like a waste of money. IOW, it was terrible! Really seems like some of the best meat we've ate came from a restaurant. Had a New York last night, along with some fried potatoes and green beans. The New York was terrible. In fact, I told my wife, "now we know why we eat out so much." and she agreed. A number of weeks ago, I had a Fillet Mignon from Outback Steakhouse here and it was absolutely delicious.
It seems that bad meat (beef) is making it to market. It may be that they are marketing beef that they wouldn't in normal times due to the beef shortage, or that more is coming form overseas. The local Kroger received and entire shipment of bad rib roasts just before Christmas. The line was long to get refunds, but my wife was in it and it put a dent in Christmas dinner.
We had leftover pot roast with potatoes and carrots, and corn bread muffins. I made a blackberry pie for dessert which tastes OK but we were both annoyed by the blackberry seeds. Now I remember why I don't make that pie.
I have not had a steak in many months. Tonight I had a salad, steak, mushrooms, loaded baked potato and steamed asparagus.
So glad you can afford the higher end of eating . Yes they do get the better cuts, depends on the buyer and how it is cut .
