Basically, both low-carb and plant based encourage a lot of fresh veggies and salad greens. The difference is fat and protein are coming from plant sources rather than animal sources. Both eating plans are against processed foods and simple carbs, like sugars and flours and even whey protein, which all change into glucose really fast and spike insulin and cause insulin resistance (which causes diabetes, alzheimers, joint pain, etc). The plant protein does not damage my kidneys like animal protein, from what I read, because our body can process it much easier, and it provides the necessary fiber when it is being digested. Even if one has no intention of being vegetarian, the How Not to Die book is well worth reading.
Jake and I just had Maries pot pie, he had 2 of course. This means I'm going to have to do some serious weightlifting in a few minutes.
Thanks Yvonne ,this is just a reminder of what I should do and basically do most of the time. Today is not one of those times, I ate Maries Pot Pie. I eat very little meat but I always have. I like tuna patties with 4 eggs in each 4 can batch. A little chicken ,not often. Jake loves meat but he isn't diabetic or had his heart molested ,thank goodness., I think Cokes gave me diabetes. I was here in the woods away from all family, friends and diet changed for the worse. Gained 30 lb.s ,kept it on for over a year. Only took me 2 months to get it off but the damage was done. I watched a movie, Shawshank Redemption with verse, " get busy living or get busy dying" I chose to live.
Sunday night is always a special meal. Tonight was so... Hunter's Chicken Kiev and BBQ Sauce in AirFryer, Sweet Potato Mash and Niblet Corn. A glass of cold Tonic Water. No room for dessert but will have tea later. Now to do the dishes Azar!
Hubby picked up Chipotle takeout on his way home from his mother's place. I had a salad with steak fajitas, salsa, and guacamole... plus a Corona Light!
I made guacamole paste today. but for supper we had stir fry with a little chicken lots of onions, red, yellow and green peppers brown rice. Ice cream cone. water
It is just avocado's mashed into a paste with minced onion, squeezed lime, chili powder, just something I concocted to gain some weight. I pile it high on Club Crackers so as not to eat too many crackers. I didn't have tomatoes which I should add.
Today it's grilled steak, baked potato (for H) and salad. I'm making yogurt so I'll have some of that for my dessert.
I will make something from the link sausages he bought- not my favorites. mixture of cabbage, peppers, onions, carrots and red potatoes.
