We were out running errands and decided to stop at a Chili's Grill and Bar for an early dinner. I used to love Chili's but we hadn't been there in several years. I was starving after fasting for blood work, so I ordered the Surf and Turf Ribeye (ribeye with grilled shrimp). It came with loaded mashed potatoes and a side salad. I have to say, that was the best ribeye I have had in years... tender and perfectly grilled. Everything was really good. Husband had the Fajita Trio (beef, shrimp, chicken) with all the fixin's. We stuffed ourselves and still brought home a styrofoam box full of food. I will use the leftover meats to make quesadillas in a day or two. And we will be going to Chili's more often.
My meals are nothing to write about, not taking meds of any kind for diabetes I pretty much eat the same things. For health mainly but if I eat carbs it cost me more intense workouts. Like Jakle makes a double chocolate cake I ask myself if I want to work for it.
Local cafeteria. He had baked fish, broccoli with cheese sauce, new potatoes. I had liver and onions, mashed potatoes, sauteed cabbage. For later we bought a slice of cheesecake (him) and coconut cream pie (me).
I haven't had liver and onions in over 40 years, nobody in the family will eat liver. Mama used to cook calves' liver but telling the kids it was country fried steak didn't work. Jake won't eat it either, and he was raised up on all kinds of varmint recipes.
I'm the only one in our family that likes liver, so I only get it when we go to this cafeteria. Probably once a year or so.
Me too Beth, last time I had liver was in the mid 1970s at a Publix drug store soda fountain, cafeteria type eatery, It was in Homestead Florida. One of the first Publix stores.
The better half is over at our son's house helping with some construction, so he's having dinner over there. I made myself a pancake and a sausage patty; it was yummy.
-Salad -ALDI meat pizza, customized with onions, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, sautéed mushrooms, sharp cheddar cheese, and mozzarella cheese.
I've mentioned before that I had exactly one friend who liked liver. I'd call Joanne to come join me whenever I would make it.
No, I fry bacon to serve on the side, then fry onions in the bacon grease, then dredge the liver in flour and fry it in the bacon/onion grease. I make gravy with the dregs of that. Always served with mashed potatoes and peas.
