Those are so neat, I've never seen them at Parks here, Holly. Feel your pain on equipment though. I know I need to strengthen my back but doing so hurts like heck so I stop....vicious circle in my case.
I'm the same chrissy, I have a double herniated disc in my lower lumber region, and I need to exercise it. Doc says the worst exercise is any cycling, ( unless it's a static bike)...and swimming on your front...I find swimming on my back a great relief!! I also find it a lot less painful if I walk around..sitting causes my back to be so much more painful!! Those exercise equipments are in all of the parks and beaches in Spain, they have a great variety, ! They're fab...I've only seen a few in the uk but not anywhere near where I live, I wish they had more. there are some that strengthen your upper body too!
@Holly Saunders , I do know what you mean. I can only do as much as 15 minutes a day, and I'm not saying I do it all at one time. I do it only for stretching when my spine wants to lock up from the inflammation. So three times a day for five minutes helps me stay mobil, but I'll not be able to continue that soon. Weight loss is not my exercise goal. Since Micheal passed, I have dropped just under 40 pounds. But I was wondering how others used exercise and when. I will be doing a lot more moving around when I start at the VA, and I figured who better to ask about dealing with pain, exercise, movement than other people with like issues. I don't want to have to take more pain meds than I already do, but I need to move to start living again, so anything I can glean from you folks.
I also have a Gazelle that I use sometimes, and usually only for a few minutes at a time, just like you do , @Ina I. Wonder . Now that we can go to the fitness center, I am also walking on the treadmill, and using the recumbent cross-trainer on some days. If my body is too stiff or not movable; then I just go and swim. Swimming has really helped me to build up my muscles again, and it helps my whole body. I always feel much better after we have been to the fitness center. We usually go every other day, which comes out to three times a week, and spend about an hour and a half each day we go. I am hoping that I will be able to walk more and maybe even ride a bicycle again by this spring when the weather warms up.
Went I get the erg to exercise I lay down till it goes away. If you want the best state of the art exercise equipment go to the second hand store because that is where the people send them when they find out they don’t work.
The best exercise for me is in the morning before taking my breakfast. I usually take a bath in the morning especially when I have to go to work. So before that bath, I do my exercises. Honestly, I had been remiss with exercising and I am doing it lately due to my husband's prodding. He would point out my bulging tummy and inspire me to exercise by showing his tummy, hahahaaah. Well, the exercise is a simple bending and stretching. But afterwards, I would be using the hand grip, pressing on it hard while I was lying on the bed face up. That strengthens my abdominal muscles. In the future, I would have some abs that would be able to hold in my stomach.
