That was probably because IRS forfeitures are federal, and therefore under the president's jurisdiction, whereas police department seizures are state or local. The federal government should have only limited powers when it comes to the states.

Personally, I really do not think the President / Government should have the power to section off any piece of real estate and call it a Federal park or Federal property. I think we already have enough Federal Parks.

One of the issues that was addressed prior to the 2016 election was about the Government’s rights in regard to eminent domain.
I can’t really remember how the candidates answered but I’m sure the whole question was based on Trump’s proposed southern border wall which would [and has] definitely used properties owned by individuals.

Bobby, I think that border wall may be legal under the imminent domain law, but not sure, seems it would be to protect Americas borders.

Yes indeed it does and would if it was completed and yes again, it was perfectly legal for which I have no problem.

What I was pointing out is that it was a subject of scrutiny during the Trump campaign against Hillary but I can’t remember how each of them answered. For that matter, Hillary might not have even been asked to address imminent domain since the wall on the southern border was a
    plank on D. Trump’s platform.

Trump pushed for eminent domain to condemn an older woman's home to make room for a Walmart, I believe. a while before his election. Even I was against him at that point in time. Enough noise was made to cancel the condemnation.

I am having trouble figuring out what circumstances might have brought this about. Before he was elected, he was not a government official and, as far as I am aware, he didn't build Walmarts.

Nope, he built golf courses. One in His mother's homeland of Scotland that was very controversial. But most who can do and those who can't want to.

You are right. It was a parking lot that he had wanted to build for limosines at his casino. I remembered the parking lot and I thought it was for a Walmart. I figured he was just doing Sam Walton or someone a favor, pushing this old lady out.

I'm more 'awake' now but not Woke so maybe if you did more research, you'd see we are discussing 2 totally different laws here, one is IRS the other is law enforcement consisting of county sheriff's, police officers and highway patrol. It is really not that hard if you'd just look at the evidence.
IRS is not the law I'm talking about. Asset forfeiture of solen, or illegally obtained private property aka 'assets' had been in effect for a long time by both federal and state,, but the point is the criminal or suspect was ALWAYS arrested or at least " charged" with a crime.
Now they don't have to charge you or even give you a ticket, just take the property and send you on your way.
In order to debate this, you may want to have more information about the topic. I know you're a smart woman but maybe too wrapped in in person 'Trump' than in the topic at hand. I also understand that Trump is the only hope we have now. but he is not perfect.
Steve Forbes can be a bad person [I don't know anything about him except he is famous] but he came up first. Even a broke clock is right once a day.
I'm surprised more people don't know about this law or maybe just don't want to get involved, it is a silly game of will's I suppose.o_O

@Yvonne my ignorant use of the English language was not intention able towards you, it was just stating that you don't understand the subject on 'one' of the topics of the topic on asset forfeiture.

My daughter who is raising her 3 grandkids got a message from their school yesterday asking if she had a garden or if she has any livestock? It wasn't a school project that led to this question.
Why would an elementary school be concerned with the parents homelife?

A concern of mine is the redistrubution of all the park lands. Mineral rights in the Grand Canyon, for instance. The park lands belong to US not a bunch of gov't officials.

Not a problem, @Marie Mallery . I do realize that they are two totally different things, and that is in fact what I was trying to explain as well. You said President Trump signed a law about asset forfeiture, and I was attempting to point out that the law that Trump signed was to stop/limit forfeiture by the IRS, and was to protect the people and limit the IRS power.
He didn’t sign any law that was about property seizing by law enforcement, which is what you are objecting to, and I didn’t want you to blame President Trump for something that he didn’t actually do, is all I was trying to say.
