Are you saying that you can close your browser, then come back the next day, reopen the browser, come to this website and you do not have to log in again? edit to add: There is one website I have on my Home Pages (a TV guide) that automatically logs me in, even if I reboot my machine. I assume the credentials are in the Cookies, since it's a benign non-financial place.
I never sign out but I close the page / forum by clicking on the cross on my iPad . If I’m away from home for a day or two I’ll go to my bookmark on my phone and play a few games then close it down without logging out the same as the iPad
I still believe that this is not a person, it is some kind of a bot or spider, or some kind of an AI spying device. It is NOT actually reading anything on the forum, so it is not a person trying to get familiar with the forum before posting. All that is there when you open the N&A section is the list of threads in that section, and as soon as a person opens a thread to read it, then it shows that they are now reading the thread, and not the N&A page. This is something that is here for a purpose, and I , for one, do not believe it is a good purpose. I am hoping that it has nothing to do with spying on the forum members, but regardless of what it is doing, it is hiding the true mission. There is too much that happens with these artificial intelligence spying apps and devices to believe that this is something benign.
Except that bots and spiders do not have the capacity to create credentials. This is beginning to feel like one of those Twilight Zone episodes where there's a meteorite, then the power goes out, then all the electronics in the neighborhood stop working...except for Susan's. Susan's car runs, Susan's radio plays, and Susan can vacuum her carpet. But only Susan. No one else. Then someone freaks out and ends up shooting the handyman as he walks back from town in the dark after checking on things. Before someone kills the handyman, why doesn't a mod shoot send Susan an email and ask her if she's aware she's been signed in all this time. Depending on how that plays out, Susan can always be soft-banned.
For the first time, today, the Susan account didn't show visiting A&N just the last time seen. Also, that account isn't always showing as being online. Mysterious to say the least. @John Brunner Yvonne has tried to PM her to no avail. No doubt a person signed up for the account and the why is speculation.
Under the circumstances why hasn’t the account been deleted ? ..I guess everyone deserves a chance but this account has been on here a while ..just my curiosity getting the better of me @Yvonne Smith
How about a direct email that can just be replied to rather than something through the forum functions?
I just did an experiment. I logged in and out without visiting any board or thread. Checking my profile logged out, it showed just the last time I was seen. This Susan account did show only last time seen this morning so that indicates it was logged in and out without checking anything. That account now shows viewing A&N and what time before they logged out. I have a feeling it is a real person but why such strange behavior? Maybe a member using another ID just to create activity. This thread is on page 4 and only started yesterday. Now that is impressive. Forum lurking mysteries seem to waken the napping.
Yes. As long as I have the "remain logged in" box checked on this website I am automatically logged in when I open the tab.
Or it could be dear @Stephen Fetchet under a new name. Or maybe dear Cousin @Peyton Farquar. BTY, did Stephen Fetchet ever make a post?
Mine does not. I added this site to Firefox so the cookies are not cleared out when I shut down the browser, and I always have "remain logged in" checked. When I close Firefox and reopen it, I always have to log in again. If I closed the SOC tab while logged in and then come to this website in a fresh tab (without closing the browser), I'm still logged in. I don't really care about this since I only close my browser when shutting down for the evening. I'd like to Auto Login if possible, but even that is more of a "How do you set that up?" versus a burning desire.
This is easily the most inoffensive topic I've participated in...but I'm not Susan I do find it interesting that most of us pay attention to who is online, where they are, and if they're active. This is as comforting as "Who do you know who owns a blue Nissan? It was parked in front of your 2 hours this morning right after you left for work."
Hey, Johnny now you have really ruined things for me. It was totally unnecessary for you to mention my hunk boyfriend's blue Nissan parked out in front. I highly suspect my deceased husband of 51 years has joined the forum and is monitoring my activity from his underground bunker.
