My younger brother hunted...mostly deer, then turkey, then dove during its short season. Like most wild birds, wild turkey does not have a lot of meat on it. You usually cook the breast meat and throw the rest away. I've never had anything but store bought. I've had problems keeping the critters out of my garden, even with modern fence technology. It makes one wonder how the early settlers were able to salvage anything to eat. Perhaps their gardens served more as bait than as a human food source.
These two dogs ,Foxy and Leo chased away most of our birds and squirrel's don't come in yard unless dogs are in the pen.
