@Lon Tanner and @Lois Winters What wonderful pictures!! I always wanted to join the military, my life went in another direction. However, I did get to work on a Naval base directly on the ships for many years.

I was stationed in Seoul, South Korea in 1961-62, as a Communications Tech in the 8th Army Comm Center.

The Korean War ended in July, 1953, but the US kept an Occupation Force over there just in case the North wanted to get rough again.

I was discharged as a Signal Corps Communications Specialist.

I was stationed at Mac Dill Air Force Base Tampa Florida after just returning from Kimpo Air Force Base Korea. I had been transferred from 5th Air Force Command to SAC . They were filming the movie Strategic Air Command movie with Jimmy Stewart at that time.

The sad part right now is that under the Trump administration, the leaders of North and South Korea were talking about officially ending the war or whatever they wish to call it.
Now, it’s all up in the air again.

I was army infantry, nothing special, just a grunt. I manned the trenches and ran patrols. For the most part
Korea was an adventure. I had good times and bad. Had two good R&Rs to Japan. Served two terms in
Korea. Glad I went. Wouldn’t want to do it again
