Seriously, Holly does make some great points here. Getting in the mix is critical to nailing down that future position. Volunteering puts you front and center, gives you the opportunity to display any talent or even pick up a few new skills... if you enjoy each other's company so much, you can both participate on projects just with different degrees of difficulty.

Don't plan on going that extra mile? Well then, just keep enjoying each other's company in the comforts of your cozy home!

Well, there is no volunteering in finance and accounting. That is what she wants and what her experience and college degree is in. Her biggest problem is her age and that her age shows up online. When a person lives in an area populated with young folks and retirees, job hunting is really, really difficult. And then, due to the winter months of snow/ice, she can't take a job too far away, unlike young folks can and will. When I was driving 28 miles each way to work, I was in my early 50's. Sure couldn't, and wouldn't, do that today!

Thing is, what can a person do when they are told, "you have too much experience" or the job is simply too far away from residence? In some places in America, the distance wouldn't be a problem at all, but here, with sometimes heavy snow falling and/or ice forming and at a Senior age...…...

The answer is quite obvious to me. Maybe too simple. I'm sorry I can't do anything for you here.

Your skills at excuses far surpass my lack of a formal education. Sadly, I didn't graduate high school and then continue onto college because I ran out of reasons not to experience the things that I needed to do. I'm just not worthy.

Welcome to our world, we've been saying pretty much the same thing to Cody for a very long time .He is a person who asks for advice over and over and rarely if ever, in fact I believe actually never, takes it..

ETA... actually the problem is probably US for continuing to try and help, when we know whatever we say won't make a dot of difference !!

Whew... I was a little suspicious that maybe the powers that be had sicked a bot on me (they do that, you know). Perhaps the Triumvirate Deceptionists traced me to my floating bunker out at sea. Then there's the great AI in the sky (Ooops! Sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned that... please disregard). Or this is one of those reality TV shows in which I'm an unknowing contestant. Alas, at least I would have some hope of mitigating any of those situations!

For now, I will have to accept myself for abject failure that I am in this situation and only hope I come away having learned something valuable from the experience.

Hey waitaminit, is this a some kind tes...

    This, is not a test.
Do not attempt to adjust the OP. He is controlling the transmission. If he wishes to make it louder, he will turn up the volume, If he wishes to make it softer, he will make it a whisper. He will control the horizontal, he will control the vertical. He can roll the image; he can make it flutter. He can change the focus to a blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity.
For the next hour he will control all that you see and hear. There is nothing wrong with your computer.

You are about to participate in an adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery and anxiety that comes from the inner mind to......the Cody.

Fade in the theme music from the OUTER LIMITS.........

If someone needs the income, usually donating 'time' is not an option.

How true. That's why there are Seniors, with a nice income of a Pension, SS and Savings, they only volunteer to have something to do. They generally don't do it because they need income.

One thing that all people need to understand...………..just because someone talks about something (a topic) or does in fact ask for help or suggestions, definitely doesn't mean they have to take it. I've done the "suggesting" before and the person didn't use it.

No excuses, just facts. Wasn't asking anyone here for help, or really even suggestions. My wife knows what she is doing. She is somewhat frustrated, but knows what she is doing.

Think some of you need to read what Bess wrote above. She is right about the volunteering thing.

You already told us just recently that extra income would be nice but you don't necessarily need it....
