Different things, hugh? How about Pickled Pork Hocks or Feet? My grandma loved the Feet, but when I use to like the Hocks, because there was more meat on them. How about Dandelion Salad? Pick the dandelion before the flower in the middle come up. There was a long-handled tool sold in hardware stores called a Dandelion Puller (aka Weed Puller) to dig them up with. Cut off the root and cup up the leaves, added vinegar and pieces of bacon......moola, Dandelion Salad! How about Rhubarb Pie/Pudding. We grew rhubarb in our garden back in Indiana. Down South here, some folks like Grits. To me, Grits is more like Cream of Rice to me. We both use to like Chinese food, but there's just too much sugar in some of the food for us. Being Diabetic II, really shuts down a number of foods that have too much sugar in them. Just never got a taste for to many foods from foreign countries.
Grits are a good staple as they taste like whatever you put on them. Other than Cracker Barrel, you can't get them around here and I think there is only one Cracker Barrel in Maine.
No problem with the pigs feet and hocks or dandelion salad. Not big on pie so although rhubarb pie is probably good it's just not my first choice for a dessert. I've had grits with sautéed shrimp on it and that's was yummy. I like Chinese and all of the Asian type foods also but too high in sodium for me. I e been to an Ethiopian restaurant here in Fresno and the food was good but didn't care for the "injera" spongy grayish bread used to eat it with but the chicken dish I had was delicious.
