Actually, it's very handy to know no matter where you are. :D If you lose your network connection at home, it's nice to be able to troubleshoot and see what connection options are available, or to be able to set up a new device such as a new laptop, tablet, or streaming device at home.

For instance... if our power goes out in a storm, I can connect to my cellphone and use it as a hot spot so I can go online without my cable router.

Youtube can be a good reference, but not always if you don't know what you don't know. :D

Obama phone maybe? I had one for a couple of years and for what it was, it was fairly good. I got loaded up at the beginning of the month with 150 minutes and if I wished for more, I could buy them.

I think that's "Pay As You Go" phone. A prepaid instead of contract.

"Obama phone" (??). Trac-phone. Thought everyone has heard of it. They all but give them away. As I said, mine cost $4.99.

Guilty as charged. When I went back to school, I used to spend hours at the coffee shop inside one of the book stores here. It got me out of the house, but I was still working. It served a purpose. I've had meetings at coffee shops too--laptops galore! Plus, it's nice if you are working and having someone bring you highly over-priced coffee. I am more irritated by the people who never look up from their cell phones.

Even Walmart--I save on my data usage by logging into theirs. I don't know how I ever shopped without a smartphone before. Walmart price matches, even stuff on Amazon.
