I used to do that with a little Fuji camera I still have. It has a little "memory card" I can plug into, well back then, my laptop. Way better photos than I can get on my smartphone which is a Moto G6, more middle-of-the-road price I guess ;) Once I got used to the ease of carrying the lightweight phone, I stopped carrying my camera at all. I do miss the quality of photos though.

A couple of us confused them with Julyfruits which is what you may be thinking of. Julyfruits are gummies.

I looked up Julyfruits and got Jujyfruits instead. Turns out I'm wrong...

is anyone else seeing this box-top and wondering exactly how "they" make an "artificial" flavor?? [IMG]

I looked it up and am still not certain. "Science."

One website said that some artificial flavors are merely the laboratory-created equivalent of nature's counterpart (for example, octyl acetate is a chemical that dominates the tangy taste of an orange and can be created in a lab.) The website went so far as to say that "because artificial flavors are synthesized in labs, they are rigorously tested for health risks and safety. For this reason, they are known to be much safer than most natural flavors." I'm not certain I'm buying that one.

I don't think I buy it either ;( a chemical alternative to the real deal by some "mad" scientist, and I still wonder about the "other natural flavors" ;) And, I don't trust anyone wearing rubber gloves eeeee'therrr

I vaguely recall some chemistry labs where we isolated esters that had different flavors and smells and that could be used for artificial flavors. It was hit or miss and some of them smelled awful. I'm glad I don't remember much more than that.

Yeh, that article mentioned artificial olfactory stimulation as one way to evoke a specific taste. Makes one wonder why the need for embalming still exists.

I just ran across this. I guess here is as good a place to post it as anywhere.

    Santa,
Please send me a big fat bank account and a slim body.... and don't mix them up like you did last year.

That was exactly what I was wondering, too, @Lois Winters ! We know that Hal says he doesn’t cook, so he is probably safe on burning the place down, and I can see his daughter getting Hal a case of candy. I just can’t imagine what he is going to do with the Crisco ?

This thread reminds me of the time I found some of the legacy gum flavors on the web: Teaberry, Clove, etc. I ordered some, thinking it was still being manufactured in small runs. Nope. What I received had been sitting in a warehouse since the 60s...flavorless and crackling.
