I absolutely love sardines but would not like to be packed like one.

No, obviously I would not have gone even if I would have had a chance to but still, the event was a hallmark of sorts regarding our culture.
As @Lulu Moppet indicated, Woodstock marked a change. Now, whether or not some kids just went to get high and listen to “some heavy sounds” or to the other end of the spectrum, pave the way for the “Jesus Christ Super Star” era, the change occurred peacefully.
It was a place where all creeds, colors, and “genders” could come together and leave the outside world do whatever it was doing.

I was in the Navy during Woodstock and didn't even know it happened. We have got a dvd of part of it. Part of the dvd shows the rainstorm that hit and people sliding in the mud. I never liked the song that Country Joe & The Fish done about Vietnam nor did I like him yelling at the crowd, spelling out the "F" word. However, did like the performance of Santana and Sly & The Family Stone and a couple of others.

Don't know how true it is, but we had a neighbor in Florida that told us she conceived her daughter at Woodstock.

The 50th Anniversary Woodstock isn't anything like the Woodstock of '69. In fact, John Fogerty and a few others back out of playing. The groups that are scheduled for the 50th are modern day groups that I don't even listen to.

Thank you, Lulu...I'll certainly look into that! (Of course I'm joking!)

I'm sorry I was so extreme, Holly...but I felt that all who attended that event were sickos.
Tear gas would have been more appropriate!

I certainly wouldn't agree with you, Hal, but that is my opinion. Basically what happened at Woodstock is......the amount of kids that showed up was WAY BEYOND what was predicted and a t-storm happened. Even if I wouldn't have been in the Navy when Woodstock happened, I wouldn't have gone anyway. Just too many wild people! Although, the farmer, whose land it was held on, spoke extremely nicely about the entire thing. So...…....

I'm another who wasn't even aware of Woodstock at the time; I was not old enough to make the trek across country and my parents would never have allowed it. It's been said that if all the people who claimed to have been there had actually showed up it would have been 50X bigger. :D (Why do people make up stuff like that anyway??)

It’s the, “I did that” or “am that” crowd. It’s the same as people who claim to have been a Ranger, Green Beret or a Seal but have never stepped foot forward for any extensive training.

People make claims that they cannot back up all the time which is one of the reasons I mistrust a lot of people.
Self aggrandizing maybe but for what reason I do not know. I prefer the “what you see is what you get” kind of a person.

And, as far as Hal’s referral to those who DID attend Woodstock, many of those same “sicko’s went on to be business owners, bankers, lawyers and doctors. What I really think is a tad sick is someone who hasn’t gone out and explored as many possibilities that are attainable in life but yet has an opinion of those who did.

Look how young Arlo Guthrie was then.

Meanwhile, those who we know were there - the performers - arrived by helicopter, did their bit and left by helicopter. Except for Janis Joplin, who was so loaded by the time she got on stage that they didn't even use her performance in the album.

    Certainly @Holly Saunders!
All those young wierdos had no taste for decent musical entertainment, and they should be forced to experience great music, like Classical Symphonies or Jazz Concerts with REAL musicians who know more than 3 chords on a guitar!

I'm a huge fan of Arlo, and that's one of my favorite songs. I also loved Joe Cocker.

Jeepers, Holly...I guess that didn't occur to me! My Alzheimers and Dementia must have blocked out that possibility!
