Never in my life have I heard flimsy used in the way it's been described here.. ''credit card flimsiness, or document etc''

It's always meant weak or insubstantial.

Emma Smith said: flim·sy comparatively light and insubstantial; easily damaged.

flimsy - My aluminum blinds are flimsy and hard to clean. That's how we used it in the south.

Don't see anything flimsy about a credit card.

    Not really.

You appear flimsy after after getting your flu shot.

I think they have it covered.

Nope that's not what it means here...

Flimsy means of little substance, bendy, flacid... weak....

Dunno but most of my life I have used “flimsy” to mean something that wasn’t quite “up to snuff”.

I have to make a small correction on my previous post. Whilst flimsy does mean to me that something may not be up to snuff, there are some things that are definitely Very nice and flimsy at the same time;......like flimsy lingerie. Yep, nice....very nice!

No matter whom I may follow with this, it will seem rude but in truth, it’s just a word that is seldom used any longer and not meant to be an affront to anyone.

Nincompoop....N. A foolish or stupid person. syn... Dimwit, ninny, dullard, ass, idiot, dolt, halfwit, imbecile and yes, many, many more synonyms.
