I could never live in a region where people use specific names for completely different generic items.

We called all soft drinks "soda", whether it was Coke, Pepsi, Root beer, etc.

You want a soda? What kind do you want? We have Coke, Sprite, Pepsi, and Dr Pepper. No, we don't have any Orange soda. :D

Coke goes with peanuts and RC has to have a Moon Pie with it.

My relatives used to put milk in Pepsi. When I had soda pop cola soft drink, RC was my preferred beverage.

RC Cola and a Moon Pie was the famous "ten cent lunch" of the Depression. If you added a can of Vienner Sausages and some sody crackers, you had supper.

I had to amend my post. It should have read Co Cola instead of Coke.

No, it should be co ca cola! Isn't this thread a repeat of an older dead and buried thread or am I experiencing Deja Vu? I ain't just speaking with y'all Bobby, but to all y'all.

Being born and raised in Colorado with time spent in Texas, I can say that back in the late 1960s, there was about an equal amount of rich Texans moving to Colorado as there were Californians. Very few of the genuine Coloradians had any problem with anyones accent or words. The only exception I can remember is a girl from Alabama whom I attempted to mentor my senior year and correct her "winda" to "window" and "flashbub" to "flashbulb." Nobody gave a fat packrat's furry tail (Colorad) or possum's smooth tail (Alabam) about things like y'all or all y'all, but some words like "batroom" instead of "restroom" had to be corrected so she would blend in. Once she donated her pageant clothes and donned jeans and a sweatshirt, with boots instead of pumps, things went much better for her.

She did steal the hearts of the drama dept (and all the guys as in boys, not as in you guys or all y'all) playing Scarlet O'Hara. That is when I knew my mentoring was in vain. :(
