When I was little I remember believing in the tall tales I heard. My father had little patience with these tales, but if I got the chases I would listen in wonder. We had an old Mexican man that would tell me stories on his lunch breaks. Of course he was a farmer so his tales were about farming. These Pixtures remind me of his tall tales.
That reminds me of my grandfather's tales. I loved them all but looking back maybe some werent so true. He was a little mischief maker.
@Ina I. Wonder, these are great! You're reminding me of my father trying to tell me about tomatoes growing so big near a place called The Big Rock Candy Mountain it took a flat car on a train to transport one. He drew me a picture of it on the flat car! I was enthralled until my mother told him to "stop that".
You might be a teller of tall tales if… Your name is "Ralph E. Madsen, the tall cowboy, who always held the "upper hand"! 1919. "Ralph E. Madsen, the tall cowboy, shaking hands with Senator Morris Sheppard at Capitol." Harris & Ewing Collection glass negative.
You might be a teller of tall tales if… Your name is Chuck Jones. When I heard his tale of a pig and a cat...being abducted by aliens, from Jupiter....back in 1955, my reaction was: "Jumpin' Jupiter"!
